Robert E. Pilling

Johnsonville – Robert E. Pilling, 78, passed away on October 23, 2011, at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY. He had resided on Storm Hill Road in Johnsonville, NY, with his wife Eleanor (Lockrow) Pilling.
Born on March 13, 1933, in Bennington, VT, Robert was the son of the late Robert J. and Mildred (North) Pilling. He graduated from Bennington High School in 1951. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Korean conflict. He was employed by the Central Maine Power Company as a warehouse manager in Augusta, ME. He then worked for the Durrin Bus Company as a driver until retiring.
Survivors, other than his wife Eleanor, include his daughter, Janice La Chance and husband Joe, two sons, Jeffery and wife Wendy and James Pilling, all of Gardner, ME, step-children Dennis Merrills of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Merrills and wife Stacy of Hoosick Falls, NY, Michael Merrills of Troy, NY, and Kimberly Mason and husband Paul of Pittstown, NY, two sisters, Margaret Hoyt of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Joanne Dunham of Bennington, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Robert is pre-deceased by a sister, Dorothy Carroll.
Funeral services were Thursday, October 27, at 10 am from the Gerald B.H. Solomon / Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. There were no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice through the funeral home.
