Stephentown Memorial Library Events

• Family Movie Night – Enjoy a showing of the recently released family film, Zookeeper, on Friday, October 14, at 7 pm. This fun family film is about a group of zoo animals who decide to break their code of silence in order to help their lovable zoo keeper find love – without opting to leave his current job for something more illustrious. This movie is rated PG. Popcorn and drinks will be served. This event is free and all are welcome.
• Community Pot Luck Supper – The Friends of SML invite the public to join them for a fun and lively evening at the Library on Saturday, October 22, at 6 pm. (Please note change of date from October 15!) Bring a dish to share and visit with your friends and neighbors as we enjoy some music provided by Colby Gail. This is a free event and all are welcome!
• Community Awareness Film Showing –  On Thursday, October 27, at 6:30 pm, we will show the Academy Award and Emmy Award nominated documentary, Gasland, directed and conceived by filmmaker Josh Fox.  The film is a look at the issue of hydrofracking and the detrimental effects it has had on communities across the country.This issue is of particular interest to local residents due to concerns about the imminent potential initiation of hydrofracking in New York State. After the film, there will be ample time for discussion, led by local activist Erin Altschule.  Refreshments will be served.
