Participants in the project will be presented with a copy of the book of their combined stories, entitled “Stephentown Stories.” The public is invited to come and celebrate the richness of our local seniors’ experiences. Refreshments will be served. The building is handicapped accessible. The “Tell Me About It” Oral History Project focused on eight local seniors selected to tell their stories.
• Community Awareness Film Showing – On Thursday, October 27, at 6:30 pm, we will show the Academy Award and Emmy Award nominated documentary, “Gasland,” directed and conceived by filmmaker Josh Fox. The film is a look at the issue of hydrofracking and the detrimental effects it has had on communities across the country. This issue is of particular interest to local residents due to concerns about the imminent potential initiation of hydrofracking in New York State. After the film, there will be ample time for discussion, led by local activist Erin Altschule. Refreshments will be served.
