The Village Board Tuesday approved a local law aimed at slowing traffic at dangerous intersections.
The Board authorized the placement of stop signs, including some four-way stops, at several intersections in the Village, including the corner of Carey and McCaffrey streets.
Removed from the law, however, was a no-parking area on a portion of Rogers Avenue. According to Mayor Matt Monahan, the no-parking zone was removed after the Highway and Police departments said it would only force vehicles to park on Main Street, causing a further hazard.
Those who attended a hearing on the law, however, spoke out in favor of the no-parking zone.

One resident presented the Mayor with petition signed by several residents favoring the plan.
“It’s dangerous,” said one resident. “I almost had a head-on collision there.”
“Are you going to declare [the residents who live in that area] harmless if an accident occurs there?” asked Rick Tinkham. “You have been put on notice. It is a dangerous area.”
The law would have prohibited parking on one side of the street. “No parking on only one side did not alleviate the problem,” said Deputy Mayor Paul Haynes.
The Board agreed to revisit the issue and look into a law prohibiting parking on both sides of Rogers Avenue in the area where the blind spot is located.
