Petersburgh – Jessie R. Fyfe, 79, died Tuesday evening, November 1, 2011, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center in Hoosick Falls, NY. Her daughters and a granddaughter were at her side when, after a ten year long illness, she passed peacefully from this life.
Born October 10, 1932, in Petersburgh, NY, she was a daughter of Walter and Cora (Jones) Weeden. During the Korean War fate would have it her family gave a ride to Steven Fyfe, a handsome soldier from Maine who happened to be hitchhiking through Petersburgh. They corresponded and, upon his return from service in October 1952, began a long and happy marriage.
A talented artist and woodworker, Jessie was quite well known as “The Birdhouse Lady” for the distinctively designed and boldly

colored birdhouses she and Steven built together, side by side for many years.
She is survived by her husband, three of her four children, David Fyfe of Searsport, ME, Irene MacCollar of Belfast, ME, and Charlene Fyfe of Hoosick Falls. A daughter, Corrine Fyfe Nelson, passed away in 1992. Jessie was blessed with seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a much loved sister, Marion Schwalb of Troy, NY, and a dear “brother,” Howard Walters of Petersburgh. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Willard “Jug” Weeden, two sisters, Bertha Walters and Charlotte Weeden, her sister-in-law, Harriet Weeden, and her brother-in-law, Erwin Schwalb.
At her specific request, there will be no viewing hours. However, friends and family are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, November 5, at 11 am at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Petersburgh.
