Brooke L. Bakaitis

Hoosick Falls – Brooke L. Bakaitis, 18, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2011, surrounded by her family at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided with her parents, William B. and Anne M. (Gerity) Bakaitis, on Elm Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.
Brooke was born on May 6, 1993, in Bennington. She graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School in June of 2011, where she was a member of the Drama and Chorus clubs. She was also a member of Upward Bound for four years and the Girl Scouts at a younger age. Brooke was employed at the McDonalds in Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. She was very involved with archery and served as a Junior Board Member at the Catamount Bow Hunters Club. Brooke also volunteered at Kimberly Farms and Second Chance Animal Shelter in Arlington, VT. Brooke was going to attend college this fall to be a veterinarian.
Survivors, other than her parents, include her sisters, Brittany A., Brianna M. and Bethany M. Bakaitis, all of Hoosick Falls, her grandparents, William L. and Corina L. Bakaitis of Hoosick Falls and Ramona I. Gerity of Bennington, her godparents, Christopher and Patricia Gallant of Bennington, and her nephew, Issac W. Bakaitis, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and her dog, Bella. Brooke is pre-deceased by her grandfather, Robert M. Gerity.
Funeral services were Wednesday, December 14, at 7 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 pm until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Brooke L. Bakaitis Scholarship Fund at Hoosick Falls Central School or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
