Hoosick Area Tree Lighting & Christmas Packages

December 16, 2011 By eastwickpress

A huge crowd turned out for the Tree Lighting in Wood Park on December 9. It was a very pleasant winter evening, made all the more pleasant by the many youngsters in costumes. Several of the costumes had holiday lights on them.

Among the costumed was the Grinch and Who’s, Christmas packages, a Christmas tree, elves and angels. There was the usual singing around the gazebo as the tree was lighted. Then folks followed the Police car for a walk from Main to John to Church Streets, ending at the Youth Center. Santa,

riding in a fire truck, followed the walkers.
The Center was beautifully decorated with a cozy spot just for the jolly old elf. The crowd at the Center was overwhelming! All the children sat patiently on the floor waiting for their special moment to talk with Santa. They were surprised he knew so many of them by name!
It was a wonderful evening and, undoubtedly, one some youngsters will remember for a lifetime.

A huge crowd filled the HAYC3 Youth Center after the Tree Lighting on Friday evening. While crowds of youngsters patiently sat and waited for their opportunity to talk to Santa, HAYC3 Director Aelish Nealon (center) talked to the kids.
