The Hoosick Township Historical Society received a donation of 200 books published and written by Barbara Burke Simoneau. The book, “The Community of Hoosick Falls – Circa 1950” is an excellent portrayal of the lives of young people and the community in the late 40s and 50s. Simoneau writes, “My father loved his hometown of Hoosick Falls and taught us that respect. In writing this booklet I wanted to remind folks once again of what a wonderful community we lived in back in the late forties and fifties when the town was bustling with employment, business and fun.”
Hoosick Town Historian Phil Leonard said, “I just finished reading the booklet for a second time. The history is accurate, and the feeling you get about the simpler and busy life of the community is just a delight to read.” Over 50 pictures are included.
The books are now on sale at Thorpe’s and Upsy Daisy.
