Margaret Grace Rimkunas

Hoosick – Margaret Grace Rimkunas  passed away peacefully on December 25, 2011, following a brief illness.
Born inMechanicville, NY, on September 7, 1922, Margaret was the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret (O’Brien) Eberle. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls, NY. On April 21, 1946, she married Stanley J. Rimkunas. For the next forty years they owned and operated the family dairy farm in East Hoosick, NY. She was devoted to being a talented homemaker, a loving wife, daughter and sister, a beloved friend and a truly outstanding mother and grandmother.
Later in life Peg spent countless hours volunteering at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, and at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, FL. Prior to the death of her husband in 1990, they spent many winters in Florida. In 1999 she moved permanently to Bradenton to be closer to her sisters, Pat, Gail and Jackie, and their husbands, Don Knapp and Norman Himes. She had a passion for the balmy Florida climate and endless sunshine. Peg loved to entertain her family and friends in New York and Florida and was known for her roast beef dinners and Super Bowl parties.
In addition to her husband Stan, Peg is pre-deceased by her brothers, Bob, Ray and Walter Eberle, and her sisters, Jackie Loomis Cardilli and Gail Himes. She is survived by her dear sister, Patricia Knapp, and brother, Alfred Eberle, her three sons, Stan Rimkunas and wife Deborah, Ray Rimkunas and wife Pam and Michael Rimkunas and wife Susie, her two daughters, Peg Baratto and husband Mike and Patricia Handy and husband Jeb, as well as thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Friday, December 30, at 12 noon from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Friends met with the family at the Church beginning at 11 am until the start of the Mass. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls or Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.
