Berlin-New Lebanon Girls Swim Team Beats Taconic

The Berlin/New Lebanon swim teams took on Taconic on Tuesday, with the girls picking up a close 49-44 win while the boys fell 51-39.
The girls started out with an excellent 200 Free race. Adriana Rizzo and Jill Risko took 1st and 2nd place, finishing less than a second apart. Kayleigh Corrado and Katarina Lichak took 1st and 2nd in the 50 Free, also finishing very close. Risko won the 100 Fly, in a time of 1:23.57, while Lichak took the 100 Free race in 1:08.81. Hannah French took 1st in the 500 Free while Patricia Cart finished in 2nd place.
The girls won both the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay to clinch the victory. The 200 Free team was made up of Risko, French, Corrado and Lichak. The 400 Free team consisted of Risko, French, Rizzo and Lichak.
On the boys side, there were a few victories despite the loss. Alex French won the 200 Free, beating his opponent by a full ten seconds. Rachel Ferris took 2nd place in the 50 Free, missing out on 1st place by tenths of a second. Tristan Southard won the 100 Back in 1:10.57. French and Ferris took 1st and 2nd in the 100 Breast, with French finishing in 1:12.42 and Ferris in 1:17.11. The 400 Free Relay team of Southard, Seth Miller, Ferris and French took first by a large margin.
