Departing Words From The Ex New Lebanon Supervisor

Margaret Robertson, the departing Town Supervisor for New Lebanon, has ended her term with a final few words to her constituency.
“As I leave the office of New Lebanon’s Supervisor, my wish is for all of our residents to find peace and contentment in their lives. Happiness is a bit harder. If we want to be happy, it is up to us to decide to be happy and then just do it no matter how hard it may appear. Every single one of us has an inner fight to win over that is just as critical to us as anyone else’s is to them.
[private]“This past election season was the worst in the history of New Lebanon, and it turned neighbor against neighbor and friend against friend. I have lived here for 53 years and found myself fighting for my life to maintain my reputation and integrity that had never before been questioned, nor should it ever have been. I never lied, cheated or misled the residents about anything and hold them in highest regard for choosing this fabulous Town as their place to live out their days. We are culturally very wealthy, and once the totality of New Lebanon’s little known history is organized and factually arranged, I believe this Town will offer the best to its residents and the traveling public. But, if we cannot work together in a simpatico relationship, learn tolerance and TRULY accept the vast differences in us, TRULY learn to forgive and let go of past hurts, we don’t stand a chance against anyone who recognizes those weaknesses, hones in on them and succeeds in driving a wedge between who we really are and the pursuit of our dreams. New Lebanon is an absolutely magnificent place whose beauty is unmatched anywhere else – and I have traveled internationally.
“We will be getting that longed for supermarket in the former store most likely by next year. Since the interior of the old store is in dire need of costly repairs that may take some time resolving. But the products sold will be from Hannaford as that chain works with private individuals from time to time. Also, after a meeting and very hopeful conversation I had with the President of the Bank of Greene County and his Vice-president for Municipalities, I can say with certainty they will be coming to New Lebanon once we open a supermarket. With those two critical establishments in our Town, other businesses will undoubtedly be drawn to us, and we WILL flourish!”[/private]
