Eric Weber Promoted To Colonel

Eric Weber, formerly of Berlin and a 1979 graduate of the Berlin Central School District, has been promoted to Colonel in the New York Army National Guard. Weber, who currently serves as the acting director of the New York National Guard’s Strategic Plans directorate, has served in the military since July 1979 when he enlisted in the New York Army National Guard as an electronics repair technician. He will be deploying to Afghanistan in 2012 as part of a New York Army National Guard team of senior officers acting as advisors to the Afghan National Army.
Weber, a full time soldier in the Army National Guard, deployed to Iraq in 2009 as a member of the 53rd Army Liaison Team. During this deployment he served as a liaison officer with the Multi-National Force-Iraq in Baghdad.
Weber is a graduate of Nyack College with a bachelor of science in organizational management and was commissioned as an officer in 1985. He has served as a helicopter pilot, an aircraft maintenance officer and an artillery officer. His assignments have included platoon leader, battalion and brigade staff officer, detachment commander, Company Commander and Commander of the 369th Brigade Troops Battalion, headquartered in New York City. He is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College.
Weber’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with six oak leaf clusters, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon and the Army Aviator Badge (800-plus flight hours).
Weber’s various State awards include the New York State Commendation Medal with shield device and the New York Defense for Liberty Medal with WTC Device.
Weber lives in Gansevoort with his wife, Christine and two daughters, Danielle and Samantha.
