Florence Matatt

Hoosick Falls – Florence Matatt, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. She had resided at the Woodbridge Apartments in Hoosick Falls, NY. Florence was the wife of the late Raymond Matatt, who died on May 5, 2000; they were married on September 15, 1946.
Born on May 20, 1923, in Hoosick Falls, Florence was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marya (Slonina) Bachorz. She attended school in Hoosick Falls and worked at the former Undergarment in Hoosick Falls. Florence volunteered at the Health Center and was a member of the Hoosick Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, baking, doing puzzles at Woodbridge and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors include her children, David Matatt and wife Marianne of Troy, NY, Patrick Matatt and wife Cindy of Weirsdale, FL, Gail Matatt and John Esmond of Albany, NY, Judy White and husband Brian and Michael Matatt and wife Susan, all of Hoosick Falls, and Arthur Matatt and Carol Arnold of Cambridge, NY, her sister, Anne Yurewitch, her brother, Frederick Bachorz, her sisters-in-law, Caroline Bachorz and Judy Bachorz, all of Hoosick Falls, and her sister-in-law, Lillian Reed of Florida. Florence is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Florence is pre-deceased by six sisters, Elizabeth Jordan, Josephine Bachorz, Mary Chapones, Helen Angermund, Genevieve Durkin and Marjorie Hearns, and four brothers, Francis, Michael, Albert and Joseph Bachorz.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Wednesday, January 4, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, on Tuesday, January 3, from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Falls Health Center or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
