Incoming Petersburgh Town Supervisor Siegfried Krahforst said he would like to set up some committees to move the Town forward. He hopes that interested citizens will join these committees. He suggests that each committee have two citizens and one Town Board member on it. He would like to appoint a committee to look into economic development and attracting business into town, one to go over Town Laws, to revise and reconcile them to create a unified set of Town laws, one to look into the feasibility of using alternative energy to light and power the Town Buildings and an ethics committee to revise and update the Town’s ethics policy.
[private]Krahforst has scheduled a Town meeting for Wednesday, January 25, at 7 pm to appoint these committees, and he encourages any citizens who may be interested in serving on one of these committees to call the Town Hall and make their interest known.
Some of the other things Krahforst plans to explore are making the Veterans Memorial Community Center an emergency shelter, with a generator for emergency power, and he would like to contact the Sheriff’s Department about the room in the Town Hall basement that they use occasionally, and he would like to investigate the possibility of having a Senior housing project brought to Town.
Krahforst said he will be available to the public once a month for eight hours so that anyone who would like to speak to him about Town issues will find him easily accessible. He proposes to hold these office hours pretty much all day on the second Wednesday of the month.
