February 20 – Monday – Grafton Lakes State Park Winter Recess Program – Winter Bird Monitoring and Count at 10 am. Join our Park’s avid bird lovers in observing the winter bird populations and monitoring nesting sites within the Park. Learn all about our diverse feathered population. Make your own pine cone bird feeder to bring home. Meet at the Park Office. The cost is $3 per person which includes snowshoe rental. Registration is required.
February 25 – Saturday – Cherry Plain State Park Outdoor Day from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Enjoy hot cocoa, snowshoeing and outdoor activities at this free event. Parking space is limited so please carpool. The event will be based at the Cherry Plain State Park entrance on Miller Road in Berlin.
March 1 – Thursday – Amphibian Monitoring Training from 6 to 7:30 am. Learn how to identify local frogs and toads by their calls and sign up to be a North American Amphibian Monitoring Program citizen scientist. Training is free, and your efforts will help protect declining amphibian populations. this event is at the Shaver Nature Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton. March 3 – Saturday – GLSP Full Moon Snowshoe Hike at 6 pm. Meet at the Park office. Stroll the Park’s paths and look for animal sign by moonlight. Please bring your own flashlight. The cost is $3 per person which includes snowshoe rental. Registration is required. Call 279-1155 to reserve your spot early; space for this program fills up quickly.
March 17 – Saturday – GLSP Backyard Maple Sugaring from 10 am to 12 pm. Celebrate spring being right around the corner with some sweetness of the season. There will be a brief video, a demonstration of syruping and a sampling of syrup for all. the cost is $2 per person, $5 per family. Meet at the Park office.

April 10 – Tuesday – Trout in the Classroom; Trout Release Day at 1 pm. Meet at the Grafton Lakes Park office. Join us for trout related information and activities. Learn about the trout life cycle and help us release the trout we’ve been raising since October into Second Pond. The cost is $2 per person, $5 per family. Registration is required.
April 11 – Wednesday – Trail Advisory Committee Meeting at 7 pm at the GLSP Park office. Help plan spring trail work days. The advisory committee includes equestrians, snowmobilers, hikers, mountain bikers and other Park users. Add your energy to the group.
