Lilac’s Hot Shooting Continues As Panthers Win

February 10, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Ryan Mosher
Coming off a career night at Stillwater last Tuesday, Alex Lilac showed no mercy on Hoosic Valley last Friday night. The Hoosick Falls senior buried 6 three-pointers en route to 27 points as the Panthers locked up at least a share of the Wasaren League title with a 59-43 win over the Indians. The win wasn’t a walk in the park for Hoosick Falls though.
After falling behind 5-2 to Hoosic Valley, Lilac brought the Panthers back with back to back three-pointers from the same spot on the floor. After a 12-2 run, Hoosick Falls tied the game with just under a minute to go, and a Tanner Williams free throw put them up by one with :03 seconds left.

In the opening minute of the second quarter Hoosic Valley’s JT Sawyer buried a three-pointer to give them back the lead. Tanner Williams and Randy Tutunjian scored the games next nine points putting the Panthers back in the lead for good. Lilac extended the lead to double digits for the first time with a three-pointer at the buzzer.
Hoosic Valley made the third quarter tough for the Panthers, creeping to within nine points, but Hoosick Falls would not allow them any closer. The Panthers outscored Hoosic Valley 14-5 in the fourth quarter, slamming the door on the Indians with the 59-43 win.
Aside from Lilac’s 27 points, Tanner Williams had 12 points, and Randy Tutunjian added 11 points.
