Hoosick Falls – Patricia Jean (Springer) McGarvin, 68, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Robert McGarvin II, who died on December 30, 2009.
Patricia was born on January 21, 1944, in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was the oldest daughter of Hazel (Surdam) Springer of Eagle Bridge, NY, and the late Roland Springer. Pat is pre-deceased by her son, Robert J. McGarvin III (1996), her grandson, Joshua P. O’Brien (2011), and her sister, Lucy S. Mosley (2008).
Pat had worked for fifteen years for Allied Signal; she currently worked part time for Oak Mitsui. Pat was a wonderful gentle woman with a strong heart. She loved her family above all else. She enjoyed crafting and crocheting, creating some of the most beautiful christening gowns for new babies in the family. Pat spent many hours with her brother Roland Springer building cradles and other fine pieces of furniture that will be cherished for generations.
She enjoyed her flower beds and gardening, shopping and going to tag sales. Even though Pat was a quiet, private person she loved being with her family, seeing everyone smiling and happy.
Pat is survived by her son, Roland E. O’Brien and wife Theda and their children, Rollie, Logan and Vanessa, her son, Dennis C. O’Brien and his daughter Alicia, her daughter, Pollyanna Harrington and Craig Colvin and children Erick and Nick, her daughter, Krista Dooley and husband Tom and their children Roxanne, Kody and Patricia, her two great-grandchildren, Ayden O’Brien and Alexis Mayer, her siblings, Charles Springer and wife Alice, Roland Springer of Eagle Bridge, Robert Springer and wife Debbie of Ballston Spa, NY, Richard Springer and wife Marcia of Hoosick Falls, Dorothy Dawley and husband Charles of Hoosick, NY, Gerry LaFlamme and husband Gary of Bennington, VT, Joseph Springer and wife Linda of Buskirk, NY, Sally Whittet and husband Steve of Hoosick Falls, in-laws, Ray McGarvin and wife Kelly and Marion Stevens and husband Harold, all of Hoosick Falls, Christine McGarvin of Louisiana, William Goodermuth and wife Nancy of South Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
