• Make Your Own Terrarium – Tuesday, February 21, at 1:30 pm. Perk up any windowsill with a beautiful, low maintenance, coffee pot terrarium. Learn how terrariums recycle air and water, while creating your own miniature landscape using small plants, moss, vines and stones. This is a great way to go green. All materials will be provided, including a variety of second hand coffee pots. This free program, led by Casey Southard, is for anyone age six and up. Class size is limited so please call and reserve a spot for this fun project.
• Story Time – Wednesdays at 10 am. Calling all preschoolers (and their caregivers). Join us each Wednesday for some story time fun. In this half hour session, we read aloud, sing songs, move about and explore the world around us through literature. Parents and children are encouraged to stay after story time so children can have time for free play while grown-ups browse for books and socialize. Story Time is led by Rebekkah Corbett, a local educator and member of the SML staff.
• The Art of Felting – Wednesday, February 22, at 1 pm. Join local artisan Isabel Krebs for a hands-on demonstration of the art of needle felting. Using locally grown llama wool, kids (or adults) will create colorful shapes and creatures that they can take home with them. Felting is easy and therapeutic. This program is geared towards children 10 and up. Class size will be limited, so we ask that you register in advance. All supplies will be provided.
• Zumba Classes at SML – on Wednesdays at 7 pm. Zumba is an exhilarating, Latin-inspired dance fitness class designed to benefit anyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Zumba Instructor Kim Conley is also a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher, Pilates Instructor and Personal Trainer who works with people of every age and ability all over the Berkshires. She will lead us in a one hour weekly class. Each class costs $5 per participant. Class will be held in the main room of SML. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. There is additional parking at the school across the road. Zumba is a blast – come join the party! Class size is approximately 8 to 10.
• Family Movie Night – Friday, February 24, at 6:30 pm. Watch the newly released family film, Puss in Boots. This movie is rated PG. Popcorn and drinks will be served. This event is free, and all are welcome. Bring the whole family.
• Spanish Language Enrichment Program with Angela Jimenez on Saturdays at 10:30 am. The main objective of this program is to introduce children and families to Spanish and Spanish culture through fun, games, music and stories. Angela Jimenez is a native Spanish speaker from Colombia and has led Spanish language enrichment classes at Grafton Public Library and at Berlin Elementary School. She lives in Petersburgh.
• Computer and Internet Security Class – Tuesday, February 28, at 7 pm. Are you worried about identity theft and other dangers of the digital age? Then join us for this enlightening class. This 90 minute class will cover some of the basic ways you can protect yourself and be more aware of your internet experience. The course will be taught by Nathan Hans. Laptops will be provided for students to use during this free class.
