Re-enactor Tim Case will appear as Timothy Mulholland, a Civil War veteran, before the Stephentown Historical Society on Monday, April 2, at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. For directions or information, phone 518-733-5675.
Mulholland, a member of the Pennsylvania Bucktails, will reflect on his wartime experiences twenty years after the war.
Timothy Mulholland was a lumberjack and farmer from Driftwood, Pennsylvania, who took off on a raft in the spring of 1861 to save the Union. The Bucktails were engaged in most of the major battles fought by the Army of the Potomac. Timothy was wounded at Gettysburg but returned the following spring to finish his enlistment with the Bucktails. He re-enlisted with the Pennsylvania 190th until the end of the war. He started as a private but retired as a first lieutenant. Returning home to Cameron County, Timothy took over his wife’s father’s farm and has lived there since. He loves to attend the Reunion and re-live the old times with his “pards.”
Case is a biology teacher at Hoosac Valley High School in Cheshire, MA, and has been involved in re-enacting since 1988. He has served in the Union Army during the Civil War and been a Mingo warrior in both the French and Indian Wars and the Revolutionary War. His students also know him as Gregor Mendel, “the Father of Genetics,” and as Charles Darwin. Originally from central Pennsylvania, he now resides in Adams, MA.
