Dorothy M. Alderman

Petersburgh – Dorothy M. Weaver Alderman, 77, of Taconic Trail in Petersburgh, NY, died on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington, VT.
Born in Petersburgh on March 20, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Florence Moon Weaver. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert A. Alderman, who died on November 18, 1999. They were married in Berlin, NY, on January 6, 1951.
A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, she attended Berlin schools and was a member of the Petersburgh United Methodist Church. Before her marriage, Dorothy worked for W.J. Cowee, Co., Inc. In 1969 she started her career with the Troy Housing Authority retiring in 1999. She was a 25 year Charter Member of the Petersburgh Volunteer Ambulance Squad. She loved sewing and flower gardening.
Survivors include her children, Lewis J. and wife Carol Alderman of Berlin, Ricky R. and wife Laura Alderman of Brunswick, NY, Joey M. and Linda Sheridan Alderman of Nassau, NY, Denise Alderman of Bennington, Robert L. and wife Karen Alderman of Petersburgh and Darlene and husband Orlo Rathbun Shorter of Berlin, her sisters, Eleanor Jones and Betty Weaver, and her brother, Larry Groux, all of Petersburgh, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by siblings, Lewis Weaver, Emma Michaels and John Weaver.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 14, at noon in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh with Rev. Matthew Olson officiating. Burial followed in the Weaver Family Cemetery. Relatives and friends were invited to the funeral home on Wednesday starting at 11 am for visitation.
Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to the Petersburgh United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 361, Petersburgh, NY, 12138.
