March 16, 2012 By eastwickpress

Firefighters did a sweep from room to room to make sure everyone was out and checked each room for the cause. The second floor was found to clear of fire, and firefighters worked on the first floor to locate the smell. After investigation it was discovered that a pillow in one of the resident’s rooms had fallen on the electric heater causing the pillow to catch fire. The resident had put the fire out and removed the pillow but did not tell anyone. However, there was still a strong smell in the building so firefighters vented the building and cleared the scene.
The Hoosick Falls and North Hoosick Fire Departments responded as did the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad. The Johnsonvile Fire Dept. (fast team ) was on stand by.

Police and Rescue Squad personnel assisted some Wood Bridge apartment residents into a warm ambulance while they waited for their building to be cleared of smoke. (Bea Peterson photo)
