Forestry Workshop In New Lebanon

March 23, 2012 By eastwickpress

“The Future of Your Woods and Wildlife” will be held on Saturday, March 24. The day long workshop will help landowners get the most out of their woodland and address some of the issues facing woodland owners today. Topics will include forest ecology and management, effects of deer and resources to help landowners. There will also be information addressing the local ecology, which will be of particular interest to Taconic Mountain landowners where the workshop will be held.
The event is presented by the Cornell Cooperative Extension and sponsored by the NYSDEC, the Columbia Land Conservancy, NY Forest Owners Association, and the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance.
The forestry workshop will be held at the Darrow School’s Joline Arts Center in New Lebanon, from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, followed by a visit to a local woodlot that has been recently harvested. The workshop costs $15 and includes handouts, breakfast and lunch. Register at http://www.dnr.cornell.edu/ext/pwt/bio/ or call Kristi Sullivan at 607-255-5508.
