Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade Line Up And Irish Fest Entertainment

March 16, 2012 By eastwickpress

submitted by Kevin O’Malley
The Capital District’s premier all female Celtic band, Triskele, will be preforming on Saturday, March 17, at the Hoosick Falls Irish festival from 2 to 4 pm. They released their debut CD, Look Back, Don’t Stare in 2011 to resounding acclaim. They are excited to bring a refreshing sound, driven by their solid harmonies to lovers of Irish music.
[private]Triskele began with founding members Noeleen Whelan-Druckenmiller, born and raised in Dublin Ireland, and Sharon Wheeler, a Capital District native. In 2010, the instrumental and vocal talents of Jennifer Kilinski and Christine Whelan were added to the duo to bolster the sound and add depth to the music.
Triskele hit The Irish Music festival circuit in the summer of 2011 with shows at the Great American Irish Festival in Herkimer, the International Celtic Festival at Hunter Mountain, NY, and the Bennington, VT, Irish Festival, to name a few. They have performed locally at Caffe Lena, The Parting Glass, Albany AOH, Potter’s Tavern, Katie O’Brynes, Irish Mist and Lyon’s Lake.
Also appearing at the Irish Festival will be the Galloway Gaelic Pipes and Drums and the Taconic Pipe Band for a short concert as well as the Jones Family Irish Dancers. There will be great Irish food and drink. Admission is $5 for adults; kids admitted free.
The 21st Annual St. Patrick’s Parade will begin at 1 pm led by this year’s Grand Marshal Roy Hand of Hoosick. Bands participating in this year’s parade are The Excelsior Drum Corps, Capitol Brass Drum Corps, Fyfe’s and Drums of Olde Saratoga, Galloway Gaelic Pipes and Drums and the Taconic Pipe Band.
The Parade route starts in Wood Park goes to Main Street to John Street to Church Street to Willard Street and back down Main Street.
Marchers, antique cars, horses and floats are still welcome. Call Kevin O’Malley at 518-894-5035.
