Leonard R. Ormsbee

Hoosick Falls – Leonard R. Ormsbee, 72, beloved husband of Patricia E. (Bounds) Ormsbee, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord at home on Sunday morning, March 25, 2012, at 6 am with his loving family by his side.
He was born on August 19, 1939, in South Bethlehem, NY, to Winfield S. and Anna (Goetz) Ormsbee. Len attended schools in Bethlehem and then the Cambridge Central School. He and Pat have been married for fifty-one years and resided in Hoosick Falls, NY, most of their lives.
Len was a past member of the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad and the Eagle Bridge Methodist Church. He had a passion for camping, deep sea fishing, long walks in the woods and spending time with his family and friends. Len spent his last eleven years fulfilling his life-long dream traveling and volunteering in National Forest and National Park campgrounds across the United States with his wife and their faithful companion Ziggy. Len and Pat participated in many square dances.
Besides his wife Pat, Len is survived by five daughters, Denise James and husband Dave, Carole Christian and husband Sean, all of Hoosick Falls, Joyce Elliott and husband Mike of Bradford, NH, Ruth Lee of Hoosick Falls, Kimberly Hall of Pine Bluff, NC, two brothers, Clyde R. Ormsbee and wife Mary Ruth of Texas and Alan “Butch” R. Ormsbee and wife Fran of Bernard Bay, NY. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Len is pre-deceased by two brothers, John R. and Winfield R. Ormsbee, a sister, Carrie R. Frisbee, and a son-in-law, Dale E. Lee.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 29, at 10 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the service at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, NY. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer County Community Hospice through the funeral home.
