Marion Schwalb

Petersburgh – Marion Schwalb, 74, of Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh, NY, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 2, 2012, at Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation in Troy, NY, in the loving comfort and care of her family.
Born in Petersburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Cora Jones Weeden and the wife of Erwin L. Schwalb, who died in 2009. Marion was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School.
She retired in 1998 after 30 years of service at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. (Met-Life) having been long employed in their Troy and, subsequently, Latham offices and then retired from their Clifton Park office. She had been employed previously at the Nancy Shoe Co. in Hoosick Falls, NY, and Marvin Neitzel in Troy.
Mrs. Schwalb was very patriotic and had been a member of the United Methodist Church of Petersburgh, where she dedicated much time to a variety of Church activities and functions as well as the choir. She was also a dedicated volunteer of the Petersburgh Volunteer Ambulance.
Marion was the devoted mother of Karen and husband Jay Snyder and Theresia Schwalb, all of Lansingburgh, and sister of the late Jessie Fyfe, Willard and Charlotte Weeden and Bertha Walters. Marion is also survived by her nieces and a nephew.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, March 6, at 11 am at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home in Lansingburgh, where Rev. James T. Spenard, Pastor, St. Augustine’s Church, officiated. Interment was held in the Meadowlawn Cemetery in Petersburgh.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 7 pm.
Contributions in memory of Marion may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association NENY Chapter, Pine West Plaza Bldg 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY, 12205. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc. of Troy.
