Florence A. Shaw

Hoosick Falls – Florence A. Shaw, 85, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012, at her residence on Rogers Avenue in Hoosick Falls, NY. She was the wife of the late Howard V. “Dee” Shaw, who died in 2007.
Born on September 15, 1926, in Hoosick Falls, Florence was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Eagle) Albowicz. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. Florence and her husband Dee owned and operated Dee’s Sunoco Gas Station on the River Road for twenty-five years. She later operated Dee’s Do-Dads gift shop and worked at Price Chopper in Bennington, VT, passing out super samples. Florence was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the St. Stanislaw Society. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Mark Shaw of Hoosick Falls, two granddaughters, a great-grandson, two nieces and a nephew. She is pre-deceased by a son, Dennis Shaw.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, April 16, at 11 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the Church from 10 am until the start of the Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Academy through the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, who are handling the arrangements.
