George William Gardner

Hoosick Falls – George William Gardner, “Bob,” 74, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Bennington, VT, he was the son of the late Leo and Eldora (Roberts) Gardner of Poestenkill, NY.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Joan M. (Yerdon) Gardner of Hoosick Falls, NY, and his six children, David Gardner and wife Diane of Queensbury, NY, Donald Gardner and wife Cassie of Hoosick Falls, Denise Morse and husband Johnny of Maynardsville, TN, Douglas Gardner and wife Jennifer of Petersburgh, NY, Deneen Hansen and husband Bruce of Hoosick Falls and Dreama Maleady and husband Eric of Petersburgh. George is also survived by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his beloved Aunt Dottie and her daughter, Carol.
George worked hard supporting his large family and retired from General Electric after twenty-six years of service. In his earlier years he was a volunteer fireman and a member of the rescue squad and auxiliary police. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles with friends, singing at family gatherings and playing the harmonica. He will be remembered for his many stories and unique expressions. So the next time you get lost out in “West Cupcake,” think of him. He will be missed.
Funeral services were Sunday, April 22, at 2 pm from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Sunday from noon until the start of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Lung Cancer Research through the funeral home.
