Hoosick Grange had it’s regular meeting on April 11 with Master David Cornell. It was an open meeting. The Lecturer’s program was on the Rutland Corkscrew Railroad. We saw where the train traveled from the North Bennington Railroad Station and chugged through Bennington. We saw many familiar sites and buildings. We watched how it wound around in corkscrew fashion, crossing near the Bennington Museum and chugging around Mt. Anthony on its way to Hoosick, Petersburgh, Berlin and beyond. We talked about the milk train going through town every night around 7 pm, bringing milk to the cities. It was a very interesting and nostalgic night.
After the program we had delicious refreshments served by Louise Ciuk and Mary Remancus. Our next meeting is on April 25. We will be seeing part two of the Rutland Railroad including the Westward Branch to Troy. There is a covered dish supper at 7 pm. Anyone interested in railroading and supper is invited to attend. Invite your family and friends.
