John Henry Griffin

Hoosick Falls – John Henry “Jack” Griffin, 84, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. He was the husband of the late Dawn (Wilbur) Griffin, who died in 2002. John formerly resided on Route 7 in the Town of Hoosick, NY.
Born on July 14, 1927, in Hoosick Falls, NY, John was the son of the late Walter and Elizabeth (Winters) Griffin. He graduated from Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Navy. John had a great love for the outdoors. He loved to go deer hunting as well as to go fishing. He always had a warm smile and helpful hand for family and friends. John was a volunteer for many years on the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad. He was formerly employed as a police officer for the Village of Hoosick Falls and by the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department. He retired as a Captain in the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department.
Survivors include his two sons, Edward and wife Kim of Cambridge, NY, and Tom and Marina of West Brookfield, MA. John is also survived by six grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany, Lauren, John, Travis and Thomas Griffin.
A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Friday, April 20, at 11:30 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. The burial will be at the convenience of the Family.
Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, 12090, on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
