Robert F. Saunders

Berlin – Robert F. Saunders, 86, of Route 22, Berlin, NY, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA, where he had been a resident for four years.
Born July 29, 1925, in Berlin, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Allene Maine Saunders. He was the husband of Elizabeth Bentley Saunders.
A lifelong resident of the area, Bob attended school in Cherry Plain, NY. He was a member of Teamster Local #294 and worked for Columbia Box and 7-Up in Poestenkill, NY. He retired after 20 years of service at W. J. Cowee, Co., Inc. in Berlin in 1988. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors, besides his wife, include two sons, John M. Saunders and William R. Saunders, both of New Lebanon, NY, two grandchildren, Joshua and Marcella Saunders, and a number of nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by brothers, Murry and Charles Saunders.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown, NY, on Friday, April 13, from noon until 2 pm for visitation. Burial will take place at 2:30 in the Berlin Baptist Cemetery.
