Frances E. Guber

Cambridge/Hoosick Falls – Frances E. Guber, Frannie, 91, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012, at the Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington, VT. Frances was the wife of the late Raymond Guber Sr., who died in 1994.
Born on June 11, 1920, in Hoosick Falls, NY, Frances was the daughter of the late Le Roy and Ida (White) Smith. She attended schools in Hoosick Falls. Frances worked as a cook at the former Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, NY. She was a life long member of the VFW Auxiliary and past member/officer of the American Legion and Eagles Auxiliaries.
Frances loved bingo, penny slots, fishing, gardening, African violets, traveling, crafts and quilting. She always volunteered to sell poppies on Poppy Day. Family and friends will miss her smile, chats and helping hand.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Wase and Jean Brooks, three sons, Raymond Guber Jr, Charles Mayer and Joe Mayer, a sister, Alice Gaal, and two brothers, Charles and George Smith. Frances is also survived by her grandchildren, Anne Marie Moran, Darren Wase, Julie Guber, Paige Bessette, Mark Brooks, David Collins, Matt Brooks and Justin Mayer, and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday, May 11, at 11 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
