It took less than 10 minutes for the Hoosick Town Board to pass a resolution supporting takeover of the Armory by the Hoosick Area Youth Center And Community Coalition (HAYC3). The special meeting was held at 7 pm on May 8. It was open to the public, but there was to be no public comment. Several members of the HAYC3 Board were in attendance.
[private]The resolution of support on behalf of HAYC3 to obtain the Armory via special legislation, will be sent to NYS Senator Roy McDonald and NYS Assemblyman Tony Jordan. It is hoped that they will introduce the resolution in the NYS Legislature and it will be passed, allowing HAYC3 to purchase the Armory for $1.
Town officials have been assured that they may remain in the Armory until the legislation is voted on, either in this session or next year.
Should the $1 purchase go through, the Town offices will remain in the building for four to six months. If the arrangement works out and HAYC3 is not inconvenienced by the array of meetings and court sessions undertaken by the Town, then, said Hoosick Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly, the Town offices might remain where they are.
The vote on the resolution was unanimously approved. The entire Board, Supervisor Cipperly, and Councilmen Louis Schmigel, Bruce Patire, Jeff Wysocki and Mark Surdam were in attendance.[/private]
