Petersburgh Troop 222 Helps Clean Up Trails At GLSP

May 18, 2012 By eastwickpress

submitted by Andrew Zlotnick
Boy Scouts from Troop 222 Petersburgh helped the Grafton Lake State Park over the weekend of May 4-6. Nine Boy Scouts, their Leaders and some family members cleaned out the woods at the Park. Grafton Lakes State Park was the site of a Scout invasion – over 200 Boy Scouts camped, cleaned and had a fun filled weekend in the Park. [private]Members of Troop 222 ran a ring toss game that was very well attended on Saturday at the Scout Midway. These same Scouts worked earlier in the day on an environmental service project in which the boys and their families

cleared dead fall wood for the State Park, improving access to area around The Rabbit Run picnic area. The boys found time to also have fun by cycling, kayaking, playing ultimate frisbee, fishing, hiking and relaxing in the campsite. Troop 222 also hosted some younger members from their feeder, Pack 911, inviting the older Webelos to camp over night Saturday into Sunday morning with the Scouts. Although temperatures were in the mid-thirties Sunday morning, the Scouts were prepared for the cold weather. The Scouts would like to thank the Grafton Lakes State Park for hosting the Mahikan District 2012 Spring Camporee and invite any boys ages 11-17 in the community to join the Troop. If you are interested in becoming a Boy Scout please contact Scout Master Jim Akers at 728-0352.
