Stephentown – Richard W. Jones, 80, of Route 22, Stephentown, NY, died on Tuesday evening, May 8, 2012, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, after a long illness.
Born April 26, 1932, in Needham, MA, he was the son of the late Amos W. and Ruth D. Colburn Jones. He was the loving husband of the former Glena Kemp, whom he married on May 1, 1953, in San Antonio, TX.
A graduate of Needham High School, Dick joined the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War serving as a radio operator on B-17s. Upon completion of his service to his country, Dick worked as an engineer for Raytheon in Wayland, MA, for over 42 years. His hobbies included woodworking, camping, spending time with his family and flying model airplanes with his grandson Joe.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Glena, a son, Richard W. Jones Jr. of Glens Falls, NY, a daughter, Terry Masula and her husband Dennis Baker of New Lebanon, NY, grandchildren, Joe Masula and his wife Jennifer of Stephentown, Candice Horton of New Lebanon and Joshua Jones and his wife Rebecca of Levittown, PA, along with great-grandsons, Logan Horton and Brady Jones.
Following Dick’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and services will be private. To remember Dick in a special way, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be given to the Stephentown Rescue Squad in care of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 9, Stephentown, NY, 12168.
