BES Character Day

June 22, 2012 By eastwickpress

submitted by Jessica Rontey
The students of the Berlin Elementary School were joined by their families and staff to enjoy an evening of entertainment provided by The Music Mobile with Ruth Pelham. Each year Berlin Elementary has its annual Character Education Pot Luck Picnic on the front lawn of the elementary school. This year families enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by the teachers at the school. Families each brought a dish to share and enjoyed a picnic supper. Ruth Pelham performed while families and staff ate, sang and danced along.
The Berlin Elementary School’s Olweus Bullying Prevention Committee has been working hard all year long to organize the event. The PTO funded the performance as well as a series of workshops earlier in the year.
The children were all actively engaged while playing along with Ruth on their handmade instruments they made when Ruth came to BES in February. Olweus Bullying Prevention Coordinator Jessica Rontey said, “Ruth spreads the message of peace, respect and love through her music, and the message was well received by all.” For more information about The Music Mobile with Ruth Pelham, visit www.musicmobile.org.
