• Local Photographer Show & Reception – Sunday, June 10, from 2 to 4 pm. Local photographer, Erin Hanlon, will share her work in a show entitled, A Local View. Erin Hanlon grew up in Richmond, VT. She began taking pictures to share some of the wonderful local views with friends and family. She spent many summers in Stephentown with her grandparents, Calvin and Virginia Atwater, and eventually moved to Stephentown where she lived for 8 years. Erin spent her free time walking and hiking in the area and took many photographs of some of her favorite spots. She has developed several picture books and calendars of the area for friends and family and now hopes to share her work with the larger community. Please join us in the Community Room of the Stephentown Memorial Library for light refreshments, viewing and discussion of Erin’s work.
• Bonding with Your Watershed – Tuesday, June 19, at 7 pm. Question: What does a resident of Stephentown have in common with someone who lives in the Town of Taghkanic, NY? Answer: The same thing a resident in Chatham has with a person living in Hancock, MA! They all live in the Greater Stockport Creek Watershed. Join us for this informative program led by Fran Martino of the Greater Stockport Creek Watershed Alliance. Participants will be engaged to find their watershed address and recognize the hierarchical nature of watersheds. An overview of the components of stream monitoring protocols will be presented. The intent of the program is to introduce participants to a general awareness of water quality and instill a commitment to sensible stewardship of water resources among audience members.
