Hoosick Planning Board Action – Family Dollar Set To Go

June 22, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Clark R. Wilkinson, President of Paragon Civil Engineering, P.C. addressed the Town of Hoosick Planning Board again Monday evening, June 18, regarding the 8,000 square foot Family Dollar Store planned for 2.15 acres on the Northwest corner of the former Baker’s Nursery property. Wilkinson brought to the meeting site plan drawings and other information that had been requested by the Board at its May meeting. [private]He told the Board that the Rensselaer County Planning Board has reviewed the plan. He said they made some minor comments but had no issues with the project as it does not interfere with any County plans. The Hoosick Planning Board approved a simple subdivision of the property and approved the site plan. In May the Board waived holding a public hearing on the project. Wilkinson said he is still working with the County on the road cut. Board members expressed concerns about large delivery trucks backing into and getting out of the parking lot when school buses are traveling Route 22. Wilkinson said he believes the truck will not be unloading during those hours.
Realtor Rick Tinkham, who attended the meeting, said he believes the closing on the property will happen next week. He said the company expects to break ground shortly after that. Their plan, he said, is to have the store open in the fall.
Paul Baker appeared before the Board with a surveyor’s map of a previously approved family subdivision on Cottrell Road. The project needs the signature of the Planning Board Chairman. No Board action was required.[/private]
