June 8, 2012 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls – Margaret (Peggy) Rogers Fleming, 88, passed away on May 30, 2012, surrounded by her family.
A strong and spirited woman, Peggy was known for her laughter and sense of humor. She loved being with people and enjoyed her involvement in community theater, retail, antiquing and cooking. She traveled extensively throughout Europe with family and friends and visited her favorite places often, including Cape Cod and, especially, Lake Placid. In addition, as the Fleming family matriarch she also hosted lively holiday gatherings over the years, creating wonderful memories for everyone. An accounting graduate of Mildred Elley Business School, Peggy also enjoyed her finance work in industry and fashion retail.
Born in Bennington, VT, on November 9, 1923, Peggy was the daughter of William Rogers and Frances Nash. She lived in Hoosick Falls, NY, until 1998, when she moved to Durham, NH, to be with family. Her husband, Luke C. Fleming, died in 1988 after 45 years of marriage, and Peggy is survived by their four loving children, Judith Wheeler of Hoosick Falls, NY, Jacqueline Eastwood and her husband, Michael McClurken of Durham, NH, Luke Fleming of Atlanta, GA, and Margaret Volkheimer and her husband Stephen of New Baltimore, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Bridget Mahoney Jenkins and her husband John of North Hampton, NH, Emily Wheeler Dubois and her husband Rick of Derby, VT, Alexandra Volkheimer of New York City and Cassandra Volkheimer of New York City, and three great-grandchildren, Marley Jenkins, Jack Jenkins and Elisabeth Dubois.
Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Peggy’s most loved organization – The Global Child. Contributions may be made online at www.theglobalchild.org or mailed to The Global Child, c/o C.A. Raboin, CPA, 5 Short Bluff Road, Newport, VT, 05855. The Global Child is a nonprofit school based in Siem Reap, Cambodia, that provides a safe and supportive home, an education and a future for impoverished but deserving street children. Peggy’s two daughters, Judy and Jackie, founded the school in 2003 and both remain involved in its oversight, with Judy serving as Chair of the Board and Jackie as Secretary of the Board. Peggy was proud to have been what she called its goodwill ambassador since the founding of the school.
