National Emergency Medical Services week was celebrated from May 21 to 26. The Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad participated by providing education to over 800 Hoosick Falls students, primarily in the elementary school age group.

Three days were spent at Hoosick Falls Central, one day at St. Mary’s Academy and some time was spent at the Community Alliance Church where home-schooled youngsters met for their tour through the ambulance. The children were shown the inside as well as the outside of the ambulance so they can see what types of tools are used to help people in need.
These programs are provided by the Squad to familiarize kids with the ambulance so that if they need to be transported to a hospital due to illness or injury, they are aware of what is happening in the way of tools and treatment methods. Kids received materials to take home, including folding cards on first aid tips, CPR procedures and a card to list medicines, should someone at home need to be transported.
Members of the Squad who assisted with the EMS week program were Bill Gaillard, Deb Lohnes, Carol Hanselman, Roseann Miller, Lisa Senecal, Susan Eddy, Nathaniel Moseley and Georgianna Parker.
