Summer Reading Program
The Petersburgh Public Library has begun sign-up for the summer reading program for children, teens and adults. Everyone is invited to join the fun and read this summer. There will be prize baskets for adults and teens. Readers can enter the drawing once for every book read. Children are all winners if they read the required number of books or pages. Pre-schoolers may be read to and join in the fun that way. Everyone is invited to join us for “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” puppet show presented by “The Puppet People” on Thursday, July 5, at 7 pm at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center. This is a full scale production of the Washington Irving story. Save the date and even if you don’t like to read come find out what the story is all about.
Summer Art Program
Sign-up has also begun for this year’s summer art program which will be held from Tuesday through Thursday, July 10-12, at 10:30 am. Art teacher Jackie Monette will be featuring “Artists Dreams & Imagination – it’s all in your head.” Students will take a journey into creating a 3-D self-portrait. Each child will receive an 11” high form of a 3-D head. Children will decorate the entire head using a variety of art materials – patterned paper, magazines, our own drawings, sequins, yarn, buttons and even words and writing. So if you want to take a journey without leaving home come and see what your imagination can dream up in this fun filled art activity. Sign-up is required at the Library since space is limited. You must be entering grades 2 through 7 to attend.
