On Monday, June 4, Saint-Gobain Plant Manager Pat Traynor, Customer Service Representative Kristin Skiba, Ken DiMaggio from the Pressure Sensitive Tape Department and Phyllis Arnold from the Extruded Tape Department visited the Hoosick Area Church Association and presented Director Dianne Hosterman with a check for $1,720. Traynor said the Food Closet is just one of the local agencies that benefit from the funds Saint-Gobain budgets for the community annually. They also donate to the Youth Center (HAYC3) and to HooRWA, the Hoosic River Watershed Association that is working on the Riverwalk. “This way we support those in need, the young people of the community and a walk that improves the entire community,” said Traynor. They also have several other projects the employees support through in-house donations.
Hosterman said the check comes at an ideal time with grant funds not expected for another month or more. “This will cover our June food order,” she said. The Food Closet has seen a 20 percent increase in food requests this year.

Still Doing Taxes
Hosterman mentioned that this year the income tax volunteers completed 250 returns for area residents. “We are the only site that is open all year long,” she said. Volunteers are available to handle amended returns or help individuals with income tax problems that arise throughout the year.
