Theresa L. Williamson

Stephentown – Theresa L. Hammersmith Williamson, 76, of Grange Hall Road, Stephentown, NY, died on Saturday, June 9, 2012, after being stricken at her home.
Born September 19, 1935, in Cherry Plain, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alfreda Gagnon Hammersmith. She was the loving wife of Douglas F. Williamson, whom she married in Stephentown on September 17, 1976. A lifelong area resident, Theresa was educated in local schools. In the 1950s she was awarded a pin to recognize her work being a plane spotter in Stephentown. She was a caretaker at many local cemeteries and was the co-owner of the former C & T Greenhouses in the 1970s. For many years she made Christmas Greens for local families. Theresa was a “Second Mom” to many. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker who will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Doug, her children, Carol A. MacVeigh of Stephentown, John and wife Betty MacVeigh of Pittsfield, MA, Brenda MacVeigh Flynn of Wynantskill, NY, and Matthew W. and wife Kristtina Williamson of Stephentown, her siblings, Joseph and wife Irma Hammersmith of Petersburgh, NY, and David and wife Della Hammersmith of Chatham, NY, and her seven grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her siblings, William Hammersmith, Mary Schouller, Alfreda Gardner and John Hammersmith.
There will be no calling hours, and services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Theresa’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York Chapter, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, New York, 12205. Arrangements are under the guidance of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown.
