The Grafton Community Library is sponsoring a free program in conjunction with the Grafton Historical Society’s regular meeting at the Everett Wagar Senior Center on Wednesday, July 18, at 7 pm. The public is invited to attend. The guest speaker is Todd Burdick, the Director of Interpretation and Public Programs at Hancock Shaker Village in Pittsfield, MA. He will present a lecture, demonstration and exhibit of the arts and crafts of the Shakers, including the iconic oval box. The values of simplicity in design and quality craftsmanship embraced by the Shakers will be explored.
Burdick is a graduate of Vassar College and earned his MA in Public History at SUNY at Albany. Hancock Shaker Village is a designated National Historic Landmark and accredited by the American Association of Museums.
