Three local people who traveled to Haiti to help rebuild homes last October will be sharing in worship service on Sunday morning, July 15, at the First Baptist Church of Hoosick Falls. They worked in the village of Grand Goave which was close to the epicenter of the 2010, 7.0 earthquake when 316,000 people were killed and 1.5 million left homeless. Jonathan Filkins, Peter Cottrell and Lorraine Brownell were involved in building “rubble homes.” This is a concept of reusing the rubble created from destroyed homes of the earthquake to rebuild a solid home. These newly built homes have been tested to withstand up to an 8.0 earthquake. This provides not only a solid home but hope for a country in much need.
Everyone is invited to come and hear their stories of the work that God is doing in that country and the relationships built with the people of Haiti. Worship is at 10:15 am at 80 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. If you have any questions, you may phone the Church at 686-5779.
