Irene B. Greene

Berlin – Irene Brownell Greene, 91, of Greene’s Brook Road, Berlin, NY, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls, NY.
Born March 29, 1921, in Groveside, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elmer E. and Sadie Lebarron Brownell. She was the loving wife of Arlie L. Greene, whom she married on March 2, 1946, in Groveside, NY.
A 1939 graduate of Walter B. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, Irene was a devoted housewife, caring for her family. She was actively involved in the family farm. Irene was the librarian at the Berlin Town Library for 26 years and an active member of the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church. Her joy was serving God, her family, her church family and her community.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Arlie, her children, Althea and husband Dale Rood, Paul and wife Gerri Greene and Wesley and wife Martha Greene, her brother, Wesley and wife Helen Brownell, her grandchildren, Kristin and husband Andrew Camenga, Jeffrey and wife Heather Rood, John and wife Damian Greene, Carl and wife Cindy Greene, Brett and wife Jennifer Greene, Aubrey Greene, Kyle Greene and Damian Greene. She is also survived by her ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by siblings, Clark Brownell, Pauline Swart, Gordon Brownell and Jessie Stuart.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, at 11 am in the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church on North Main Street in Berlin where Rev. Matthew Olson will officiate. A “Time of Fellowship” will follow the service. Contributions in memory of Irene may be given to either the Berlin Seventh Day Baptist Church or the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls in care of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, P.O. Box 361, Petersburgh, NY, 12138.
