Murray Winn Rathbun

Berlin – Murray Winn Rathbun passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2012, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY. Born November 28, 1947, in Troy NY, he was the son of the late Howard and Marion Winn Rathbun.
Murray was the beloved husband of Anne Eaton Rathbun, the devoted father of Scot and his wife Sherry Rathbun, a dear brother to Whitney Rathbun, the caring stepfather of Robert and wife Karen Borovich and Laura and husband John Leone, the grandfather of Ashley-Rose Caldwell and Sara Rathbun, the stepgrandfather of Gregory and wife Kim Leone, Hannah and husband Justin Kipp, Christie and husband Christopher and Thomas and Jessica Borovich, and stepgreat-grandfather of Khalen Kipp, Haley Kipp and Landon Leone.
He is pre-deceased by his sister, Sandra Weeden.
He spent most of his life in Berlin, NY, having graduated from the Berlin Central School District. After graduation Murray was drafted into the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Upon his return he worked for a short time for the Henry J. Seagroatt Company, rose growers, in Berlin and then as an installer and repairman for Taconic Telephone until he retired.
Murray loved the outdoors, spending time scuba diving, fishing and hunting. He loved anything with black powder. He was a member of the Veterans of the Stephentown Area and the Berlin Rod and Gun Club for over 20 years.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 21, at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, Chatham, NY, from 9 to 11 am. A religious service will be celebrated at 11, and interment will follow with military honors at St. James Cemetery, Ghent, NY.
