Hoosick Falls – Raymond E. Calhoun, 89, passed away on July 9, 2012, at the Center for Living & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had formerly resided on Easy Street in Hoosick Falls with his wife Eva (Kipp) Calhoun.
Born on December 24, 1922, in Eagle Mills, NY, Raymond was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Nelson) Calhoun. He attended Troy High School. Raymond was a farmer, working on the Rosendahl Guernsey Farm. He also served as the Town of Hoosick Supervisor and was the Town Clerk for many years. Raymond was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoosick Falls for over fifty years and a member of the Van Rensselaer Star Lodge of Masons. He served on the Board of Directors for the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Survivors, other than his wife Eva, include his daughter, Kathie Zeman of Framingham, MA, his son, Mark Calhoun, of Hoosick Falls, his grandchildren, Raymond and Marjorie Calhoun and Sarah and Gregory Zeman, and his great-grandson, Henry Calhoun. He is pre-deceased by two brothers, Harold and John Calhoun.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 12, at 10 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the service at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Center for Living & Rehabilitation or the Rensselaer County Community Hospice through the funeral home.
