Saturday, July 14 – HooRWA president Lauren Stevens will lead his annual re-creation of Thoreau’s hike up Mt. Greylock. Meet at the Notch Road gate to the Greylock Reservation at 10 am. Or, if you wish to drive down rather than hike down, meet at the Notch Road gate at 9 am to organize a shuttle. Bring lunch and water. Dress appropriately for this 11 mile round trip.
Sunday, July 15 – Tomhannock Reservoir Bike Ride. Rico Dovey will lead a ride around the circa 1900 Tomhannock Reservoir, the source of drinking water for the city of Troy and the largest body of water in the Hoosic watershed. We will meet at the parking lot of the Tomhannock Bike Shop on Rte 7 in Pittstown at 10 am for a scenic 33 mile ride. This route has an elevation change of +/- 2,500 ft. and a maximum grade of 9%. The event is free to HooRWA members; a donation of $5 will be requested from non-members.
Saturday, July 21 – Hike to Money Brook Falls. HooRWA Board Member John Case will lead a hike to Money Brook Falls on the Mt. Greylock State Reservation. The trip will leave at 10 am from the hikers’ parking lot at the end of Hopper Road in Williamstown, MA. Pack a lunch and plenty of water. Some of the hiking is steep, so you should be in moderately good physical condition. To get to the hikers’ parking lot, take Route 43 (Water Street/Green River Road) south from Williamstown. After about three miles, take a left across the bridge at Mt. Hope Park on to Hopper Road. Follow Hopper Road all the way to the end.
