Society Of St. Stanislaw Celebrates 100 Years – Weekend Long Festivities Planned

July 20, 2012 By eastwickpress

On January 13 the Society of St. Stanislaw, “The Polish Hall,” achieved the significant milestone of 100 years of existence and service to the greater Hoosick Community. The Society has over 500 members.
In August the Society will commemorate this milestone by having a weekend long celebration culminating with events for both the young and the old. The celebration will commence Friday evening, August 17, with a Covered Dish beginning at 6 pm. Dash Nash Acoustical will provide the music from 7 to 10 pm. On Saturday, August 18, the Society has planned a tailgate procession starting at 12 noon that will begin on Liberty Street and commence throughout the Village.  After the tailgate procession it’s back to the hall where there will be fun for all, hamburgers, hot dogs and other snacks and a bouncy bounce and face painting for the kids until 3 pm.  At 5 pm a chicken barbecue will be served by the North Hoosick Fire Department and from 6 until 10 pm music will be provided by the Rymanowski Brothers, the Capital District’s premiere Polish band. On Sunday, August 19, the Society will conclude the celebration with the Executive Officers and Dignitaries honoring the Society with a brief ceremony and remarks beginning at 2 pm, followed by a small buffet.
There is no charge for Friday evening’s covered dish and it is open to members and non-members. Saturday’s fun-filled day at the hall from 1 to 10 pm is also open to members and non-members. Tickets will be $10 per person (Cash Bar).  Children under 7 are free (BBQ dinner not included). Tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis, and need to be purchased by July 31.  Sunday’s event will be members and their guests, invited dignitaries, and invited organizations only.
Tickets have been on sale since July 2.  Anyone wishing to obtain tickets should stop by the Polish Hall to purchase them as soon as possible, as tickets are limited and are sure to sell out fast.

Working on the St. Stanislaw 100 Year Celebration are Executive Officers (l-r) Board of Directors member Ron Hall, Treasurer Rick Cuddihy, Board members John Redden and Jean Slingerland, Vice President Bob Shiland, Board member Ginny Blinstrub, Secretary Bob Frazier, Board member Terri Burdick, President Craig Colvin and Financial Secretary Denise McMahon.
