The Mountain Road School Is On The Move

July 20, 2012 By eastwickpress

In September, Mountain Road School will open its doors in a new home – 4565 County Route 9, New Lebanon. Known as the Hand House, this historic 1788 structure has been a landmark in West Lebanon for two centuries. Though the house was empty and was showing signs of deterioration, its “bones” are solid and true.  Renovations are underway and even in the early stages, it is clear this is a perfect home for the school.
Here’s your chance to be part of the transformation.  Volunteers are needed for painting, landscaping, building a playground and more.  The first work crews are scheduled for interior and exterior painting on Thursday, July 26, from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, July 27, from 11 am to 4 pm, on Saturday, July 28, from 9 am to 5 pm and on Sunday, July 29, from 10 am to 5 pm.
If you would like to join new and old friends for a fun working weekend, let us know when you can help by going to www.mountainroadschool.org.  We are also looking for donations of building materials, painting supplies and playground equipment for the new school.
And of course, we need money.  Over $164,000 has been raised.  With your help, we will reach our goal of $315,000.  Each of us has a special connection to Mountain Road School – as alumni, current and former parents or grandparents, past or present staff or dear friend.  A donation to the Building Fund honors that connection and ensures the future of our beloved schools for generations to come.
